What is Bench Rest?
· Bench Rest is the ultimate test of the shooters ability:-
· By booking in advance the shooter must work with the weather he gets – no more hanging back waiting for the wind to drop.
· The inner ring is worth 100 points a miss minus 25 – concentration is rewarded, luck is minimised.
· The rifle is rested eliminating ground and position variations – the final score is your equipment plus your ability
Bench Rest Rules
1. The competition will be shot over 25 yards.
2. Each competition is one card.
3. A card carries 30 targets.
4. 20 minutes is allowed to put one shot in each target.
5. Unlimited sighters may be taken inside the FOUL LINE.
6. A target comprises 3 concentric scoring rings BULL – 12mm dia -100 points; INNER 18mm dia - 50 points: OUTER 25mm dia 25 points.
7. A shot must be totally contained within the scoring ring to receive the value of that ring.
8. A shot completely severing the outer ring will be scored 10 points.
9. Any target missed attracts a 25 point penalty.
10. Any target with more than one shot is a 50 point penalty with only the lowest value shot scoring.
11. Each shot in excess of 30 on the scoring side of the FOUL LINE is a 100 point penalty.
12. Front and rear rest must be totally separate.
13. The rifle must be able to be lifted vertically from the rest with no restraint.
14. The forward hand must not be used to support the rifle.
15. The portion of either rest in contact with the rifle must not exceed 100mm.
16. Wind direction indicators will be positioned at 5 yard intervals both sides of the range.
17. Entry by advanced booking only. Entries on the day will not be accepted.
18. Intentional cross shooting will result in immediate disqualification.
